The Consular Chamber of Commerce hosted a group of distinguished guests at the Joint Chambers of Commerce Luncheon on July 1, 2009, at the Paris Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The keynote speakers were the Honorable U.S. Senator Harry Reid and Small Business Administration Director Karen Mills.
Senator Reid spoke about the impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and how it would provide funding for job-creating projects in Nevada and across the country. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is one of the largest pieces of legislation of the 21st century and will provide funds to build roads, provide aid for needy families, and will put people to work.
SBA Director Karen Mills provided an overview of the SBA, and highlighted the Small Business Development Centers, wherein consultants help small businesses; and the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), which provides free counseling from retired executives to small businesses and oversees small business loans.
Joining the Consular Chamber of Commerce's Executive Committee, comprised of President Emeritus Jonathan Warren; Honorary Consul of Slovakia Dr. Geoffrey VanderPal; Honorary Vice Consul of Guatemala Dr. Aldo A. Aguirre; and Consular Emissary David Williams, MBA; were the United States Representative to the World Federation of Consuls, the Honorary Consul of Chile Paulina Biggs Sparkhul, the General Consul of El Salvador for Nevada Jose Rodolfo Garcia; the Consular Chamber Director of Special Projects Kenneth Walther; the Nevada Small Business Development Center Director Larry Vierra; and, the Nevada District Export Council President Randy Innis.

This is a great initiative from The Consul Chamber of Commerce. It would be great if we could collaborate each other to emulate projects like this for countries like ours.
